The Tonkin Gap Footbridge in Malaga is a significant infrastructure addition aimed atenhancing pedestrian and cyclist connectivity acrossTonkin Highway. Constructed bythe Tonkin Gap Alliance, the footbridge is located approximately 750 metres north ofMarshall Road.
Key Features:
- Design: An arch-style structure spanning Tonkin Highway, providing safe passagefor pedestrians and cyclists
- Connectivity: Links residential areas west of Tonkin Highway to Whiteman Parkand the METRONET Malaga Station, facilitating access to the Morley–EllenbrookLine
- Construction Timeline: Major structural components, including arch segmentsand bridge deckmodules, were installed by April 2024. The footbridge is set tobecome operational in alignment with the opening of the Morley–Ellenbrook Linein late 2024.
