Located within the existing Nowergup Depot, approximately 40 km north of Perth’s CBD,the Nowergup Rolling Stock Modification Shed is a key component of the METRONETHigh Capacity Signalling (HCS) project. Construction commenced in late 2024 and isanticipated to be completed by late 2025

Purpose and Functionality:

High Capacity Signalling Fit-Out: The facility is designed to support thecontinuous installation of Automatic Train Control (ATC) equipment on B-seriesand C-series trains, necessitating accessto various parts of the railcars,including the underframe and roof
Post-HCS Maintenance: Upon completion of the HCS project, the shed willtransition to serve as a maintenance facility for rolling stock, enhancing thedepot’s capacity to support the growing fleet

This development aligns with the broader METRONET initiative, aimed at modernizingPerth’s rail network to accommodate increasing demand and improve serviceefficiency
